A Glasgow-based restaurant has said that they would change their logo after Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain called them out in a viral video, highlighting an incorrect map of India, where the entire North Eastern part of the country was missing. The boxer spotted it during a celebratory dinner hosted for the Indian boxing contingent at Mister Singh’s India, The Home of Curry, following India’s haul of 10 medals in boxing — seven gold and three silver — at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
The official account of the restaurant took to Instagram and posted: “Mr Singh’s India, is very proud of our Indian heritage and ancestry, for almost 32 years we have served, for India and around the world.”
It added: “First and foremost, we would like to unequivocally apologise for the depiction of the wrong map of India. We will take immediate steps to correct this. Once again our sincere apologies, we never wanted to offend anyone rather wanted to serve with pride to the Indian contingent.”
The statement further read: “We will change the logo with a proper map. It was our humble privilege and honour that we served Team India, after their fantastic achievements in the Commonwealth Games”. However, the post was later deleted along with their account.
In the viral video, Borgohain was seen holding up a napkin which had the India map and was heard saying: “Please don’t take this the wrong way. I felt a little hurt by this. In the map of India, our Northeast is missing. As someone from the Northeast, that really hurts us. Please keep this in mind next time.”
Boxing Federation of India president Ajay Singh had earlier told PTI: “There was no confrontation. It was an aberration and we pointed that out, me and Lovlina. They accepted their mistake and assured us that it will be corrected.”
