England’s Ben Stokes to meet advisor as retirement buzz gathers momentum

England cricket team captain Ben Stokes is set to meet his advisor to decide on his future amid the ongoing probe in the nightclub incident in London after the ENG vs NZ 1st Test. The all-rounder, along with pacer Gus Atkinson, were involved in a brawl with Saracens rugby player, Totoa Auvaa that saw an England security officer needing stitches after the fight. Earlier on Tuesday, reports had claimed that Stokes could possibly consider retiring after the fresh controversy.

Stokes to meet advisor to decide on future

As per ESPNCricinfo, Stokes is scheduled to meet Neil Fairbrother – his agent – on Wednesday to take a call on his future. The report states that while the England captain and Atkinson could be fined and even face suspension, the ECB is keen on allowing Stokes to ‘come to his own decision around his future’. The report claims that an emergency meeting of the ECB was held on Tuesday, with fears of Stokes announcing his retirement via social media being allayed. musojam.blog

Offered the chance to resign on Monday, the 35-year old may yet take the chance to step down and carry on through to the end of his central contract, in 2027, after the next Ashes. He could also opt to relinquish the captaincy and take an indefinite break from the game,” the report stated.

Talking about Stokes, the all-rounder recently returned to action after recovering from a serious facial injury. His last Test appearance came back in January 2026 against Australia. The incident comes to the light right after England’s 115-run win at Lord’s in the ENG vs NZ 1st Test. The pitch for the game, which saw 35 wickets fall in two days, has been rated unsatisfactory by the ICC.

The controversy arrives at the worst possible time for England. Only months ago, the team introduced a strict midnight curfew after repeated criticism of players’ behaviour during the Ashes tour of Australia. That tour triggered debate about whether England had developed an unhealthy drinking culture.

BAN vs AUS: Nahid Rana Torments Australia as Alex Carey Hails Fast-Bowling Star

Australia wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey praised Nahid Rana for his sensational four-wicket haul in the first ODI of the three-match series, played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday (9 June).

Rana was Bangladesh’s chief destroyer with the ball. The tall right-arm fast bowler returned figures of 4/41 from 10 overs. His victims included Carey, stand-in captain Josh Inglis, Liam Scott and Xavier Bartlett. With his extra pace and bounce, he troubled the visitors and helped his side secure an 86-run victory via the DLS method. The win also marked Bangladesh’s first ODI victory over Australia since 2005.

Carey is looking forward to the challenge of facing Rana in the remainder of the series and is determined to negate his impact.

“He [Rana] bowled really well,” Carey said after the defeat. “I think we all knew about the pace, but I guess until you face it first-hand, he’s a really tall athlete and gets a bit of bounce as well. So he bowled really well. That’s what I will say, and we’ve now got a chance to play against him in the next two ODIs here on Thursday and Sunday, and hopefully we can keep him out of the wickets from now on.”

This year has been a special one for Rana, who has taken 20 wickets in just seven ODIs, including two five-wicket hauls, both of which came in Dhaka.

Despite Rana’s hostile, match-winning spell, it was Mosaddek Hossain who was named Player of the Match. Making his comeback to the side after a lengthy absence, the spin-bowling all-rounder excelled with both bat and ball. He first scored an unbeaten 86 before claiming two crucial wickets.

Glasgow [Scotland], June 10 (ANI): Australian cricket legend Matthew Hayden has officially joined Glasgow Cosmic as co-Owner and Head Coach ahead of the inaugural season of the European T20 Premier League (ETPL), marking a major milestone for the franchise as it prepares for its debut campaign.

A World Cup winner and one of the most celebrated opening batters in cricket history, Hayden brings a wealth of international experience, leadership and cricketing expertise to the Glasgow-based franchise, according to a release.

His appointment strengthens Glasgow Cosmic’s ambitions of building a competitive and globally recognised cricket brand in the emerging European cricket landscape.

Expressing his excitement about the new role, Hayden said, “It is with great honour and genuine humility that I accept the role of Head Coach of the Glasgow Cosmics for the inaugural season of the European T20 Premier League.
