New report: Kaizer Chiefs approach surprise coach

DWIGHT YORKE TO KAIZER CHIEFS?
Despite strong prior reports saying the French-Portuguese coach Fernando Da Cruz has completed his move to Amakhosi, Sky Sports have revealed the Soweto giants are setting sights on Yorke.
“Former Aston Villa and Man Utd striker Dwight Yorke holds talks with Kaizer Chiefs about managerial vacancy at South African club,” Sky Sports reported (live broadcast, 15 June 2026).
Additionally, there are unconfirmed rumours Yorke could be targetted for an assistant role to Da Cruz.
Yorke, who enjoyed a distinguished playing career in England, has since moved into coaching and management. The Trinidad and Tobago legend has previously expressed an interest in taking charge of a major African club if the right opportunity arose.
Kaizer Chiefs are looking to build on last season’s third-place finish in the Betway Premiership. This includes a return to the CAF Confederation Cup.
Despite the latest report linking Yorke with the role, Kaizer Chiefs have yet to confirm who will lead the first team next season. Other names have also been mentioned in recent weeks, with supporters eagerly awaiting an official announcement from Naturena.
For now, the Sky Sports report adds another intriguing twist to Kaizer Chiefs’ coaching search.
COACHING CAREER
After retiring from professional football in 2009, Yorke quickly moved into coaching by joining the Trinidad and Tobago national team. He was an assistant coach during their 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign. He later earned his FIFA Level B coaching qualification. He picked up experience in youth development and scouting, including a role with Manchester United’s academy.
Yorke landed his first senior managerial position in May 2022. It was with Australian side Macarthur FC on a two-year deal.
His time at Macarthur produced immediate success. He guided the club to the 2022 Australia Cup title with a perfect run through the competition. In the A-League, he recorded five wins, two draws and six defeats in 13 matches before departing in early 2023 following internal disputes.
The club later fell from sixth place at the halfway stage of the season to finish bottom of the table after his exit.
In November 2024, Yorke returned to international football as head coach of Trinidad and Tobago. He led the Soca Warriors into the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The run included a win over Cuba in the qualifiers but was unable to steer the nation to the knockout stages. A draw against Jamaica in March 2026 ended Trinidad and Tobago’s hopes of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. It led to the end of his tenure after 17 months.

When Leinster run out at Croke Park for the 2026 Vodacom URC final, few players will feel the weight of expectation more heavily than captain Caelan Doris.
The Ireland No 8 has become the face of a Leinster side that has dominated much of the northern hemisphere game – yet repeatedly fallen agonisingly short of the greatest prize in club rugby.
Since lifting the Investec Champions Cup in 2017-18 to be crowned kings of Europe, the Irish giants have lost five finals, including the devastating loss to defending Bordeaux Bègles in the Bilbao final last month.

As Leinster captain, Doris has shouldered much of that disappointment.
The 28-year-old was also the skipper when Leinster heartbreakingly lost the 2023-24 final 31-22 to Toulouse after extra-time.
After a shock Champions Cup semi-final loss to the Northampton Saints last year, Leinster salvaged their season when they won the URC for the first time, and Doris’ men will be looking to do the same again on Friday night.

Doris is widely regarded as one of the world’s premier loose forwards, becoming a central cog in Leo Cullen’s Leinster machine. But the pressure is on the Irish side to deliver silverware or the noise around the team will reach deafening proportions.
Leinster beat the Bulls convincingly in last year’s final at the same venue. However, this year’s showpiece is under lights, and against a Bulls team who will look to exact revenge and inflict more cup final heartache on Doris & Co.

Au lendemain de la lourde défaite de la Tunisie contre la Suède (1-5) lors de son entrée en Coupe du monde 2026, la fédération tunisienne a décidé de réagir rapidement.
Selon la presse locale et plusieurs sources proches de la sélection, Sabri Lamouchi aurait été limogé de son poste de sélectionneur, une décision qui intervient après un début de tournoi catastrophique.
Dans la foulée, Hervé Renard est annoncé pour lui succéder, en attendant une officialisation de la fédération. Le technicien français est pressenti pour prendre immédiatement les commandes de l’équipe afin de tenter de relancer les Aigles de Carthage dans ce Mondial.

Un bilan lourd pour Lamouchi
En quatre matchs, son bilan est déjà préoccupant : trois défaites, un nul contre le Canada et une courte victoire face à Haïti. Plus grave encore, la Tunisie a encaissé dix buts sur ses deux dernières sorties, face à la Belgique puis contre la Suède. Un chiffre impensable pour une sélection historiquement bâtie sur sa rigueur défensive.

Connu pour sa capacité à redonner une dynamique rapidement, Hervé Renard est vu comme un choix de transition immédiate. Son objectif serait de restructurer une équipe en manque de repères et de relancer l’espoir de qualification.
