If your hands are sore from clapping and your vocal cords are completely shredded, congratulations, you probably just survived the absolute onslaught of announcements that dropped at EVO 2026. forestarrow.help

Las Vegas wasn’t just about crown jewels and bracket resets this year. The major game developers showed up with enough trailer drops, roster updates, and surprise announcements to make a dedicated gaming showcase look like a casual local meetup.

From nearly decade-old games getting unexpected facelifts to an influx of anime and cartoon madness, the fighting game community is officially going to be busy for the foreseeable future.

A Blast From the BlazBlue Past

Let’s start with the announcement that had people genuinely checking if they had accidentally traveled back in time. Arc System Works pulled the curtain back on a brand-new DLC character for BlazBlue: Central Fiction. Trinity Glassfille is officially entering the arena, marking the game’s first roster addition since way back in 2017. Nobody had “nine-year-old fighting game DLC update” on their bingo card, but the crowd went absolutely wild for it.

Sticking with the Arc System Works ecosystem, Guilty Gear Strive players are getting an injection of glorious, robotic nonsense. Robo-Ky is officially locked and loaded, set to make his chaotic debut.

Tekken Gets Chunky and Chibi

Over in the Tekken 8 camp, Bandai Namco decided to feed the fans, quite literally, by revealing the return of Bob. The speed and weight legend is hitting early access via the Season 3 Pass, so get ready to see a whole lot of high-speed flips from a heavy-set gentleman in your ranked matches. They also dropped a little teaser for Roger Jr., confirming the boxing kangaroo is waiting in the wings.

If that wasn’t enough Tekken for you, they also announced an upcoming chibi-style animated project titled Tekken! Cartoon. It features adorable, pint-sized versions of Kazuya, Alisa, Paul, and Yoshimitsu. Watching the Mishima family drama play out in an aggressive Saturday morning cartoon format is going to be something special.

Team Crossovers and Anime Icons

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls gave fans a massive look at its upcoming roster by showing off the Samurai Outriders team. It is a wildly cool mix of Blade, Deadpool, and Loki, proving that the game is leaning heavily into that chaotic, comic-book energy.

Meanwhile, SNK is clearly capitalizing on pure nostalgia. Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star is officially live in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. It is a guest spot that makes perfect sense, given how much shared DNA those two old-school worlds have.

Riot and Rivals Are Expanding

Riot Games gave everyone a status report on 2XKO, confirming that Lux is arriving later this year, followed closely by the stylish, gun-toting Samira before the calendar flips to 2027.

Rivals of Aether 2 also dropped a massive multi-year roadmap. Free fighter Gouie is right around the corner, and they managed to snag Mina from Mina the Hollower as the game’s first official guest fighter for next year.

Toss in a Nintendo Switch version of Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, and it is safe to say that your wallet is going to be crying, but your arcade stick is going to be incredibly happy.

The Witcher and Cyberpunk company we've all been calling CD Projekt Red is now officially CD Projekt Red, presumably because they got sick of us calling them CD Projekt Red

Did you know that CD Projekt is, in fact, a company that's distinct from CD Projekt Red? I did, but that's only because my days are often occupied with polite but firm emails from PR representatives who are quite particular about these sorts of minutiae. Thankfully, the company has recognized that this state of affairs is extremely confusing, and is unifying its name to make things more consistent.

CD Projekt (without the Red) was founded back in 1994 as a distributor bringing foreign video games to the Polish market. CD Projekt Red was founded in 2002, and that name represents the development studio responsible for The Witcher and Cyberpunk games. Over time, the two names became basically synonymous in the minds of players, and while CD Projekt Red was technically a subsidiary of the broader CD Projekt, the company had a heck of a time getting anyone to recognize the difference.

Now, as part of an effort "ensure full brand consistency and facilitate the identification of the Company with its products on the global market," the whole thing is going to be known as CD Projekt Red. The announcement was buried in one of the company's recent reports, but was soon noted by Polish financial site Bankier.pl (thanks, GamesIndustry.biz).

I choose to believe that we – that is, the general gaming world – have bullied the whole of CD Projekt into appending that "Red" by resolutely refusing to recognize the company and its development house as separate entities. Remember when CDPR insisted that The Witcher 4 was not called The Witcher 4, up until the very moment it was confirmed to be called The Witcher 4? Same principle. This is the power of refusing to accept corporate brand guidelines as a restriction on actual language.

Here are all the upcoming CD Projekt Red games you need to know about.
