Control Resonant Metacritic score places it higher than its predecessor, but it can't touch 2026's top 20 bangers like Resident Evil Requiem and Pokemon Pokopia
Control Resonant review scores are out ahead of the mind-bending action RPG sequel's September 24 launch, and it's looking strong – just the way the Oldest House would want it.
The game has an 84 Metacritic score based on 56 reviews as of writing, ranking it slightly better than the original Control's 82 rating. Note, though, that Metacritic's overall "Metascore" is unique to its separate platform averages. Based on the original Control's PC score, for example, the 2019 game wins out against Control Resonant with an 85 score.
GamesRadar+'s own Control Resonant review awards Remedy Entertainment's newest supernatural mood board a three-out-of-five, as games editor Oscar Taylor-Kent says, "Remedy continues to create unexpected games even across its sequels, though I finish this journey wishing it had more of the restraint and tightness of the original game and its DLCs."
Some other reviewers share the underwhelmed sentiment. Polygon describes Control Resonant as "a perfectly serviceable game. But that is exactly the problem." Kotaku is, instead, more forgiving and calls Control Resonant an "imperfect, but relentlessly, characteristically interesting" experience.
IGN was a bit more enthused, recognizing in an eight-out-of-10 review that Remedy's latest can be "somewhat dull in certain stretches," but it also takes big "swings that land alongside some of this studio's best." In its own eight-out-of-10 review, Push Square specifically finds pleasure in "some of the best-looking environments of the console generation," which "is also worked into the game's mechanics. A double jump, light forms of flight, and an endlessly cool shift ability that lets you latch onto a new axis of gravity make Resonant's world a delight to traverse."
Others like Vice were even more bold in their passion; Vice gives Control Resonant a full-fat 10-out-of-10 score, calling combat an "absolute thrill, mixing levitation maneuvers, air dashes, telekinetic powers, and fast-paced melee attacks," which comes "together to create one of the best action RPGs released this year."
Still, Control Resonant hasn't been able to infiltrate 2026's top 20 games on Metacritic, since the lowest score on the list is an 87 for 007 First Light. Resident Evil Requiem and Pokemon Pokopia form a strong middle-of-the-pack with matching 89 scores. Finally, the indie twin-stick shooter Sektori, which originally came out at the end of 2025, tops Metacritic's Best Games This Year list with a 94 score based on nine reviews about its Nintendo Switch 2 port. Hey, I know you loved Big Walk (91 score) and Mina the Hollower (90), but I don't make the Metacritic rules.
Don't take them too seriously, then. The Federal Bureau of Control wouldn't like you succumbing to anyone else's propaganda, anyway.
Control Resonant looks like an exciting action-RPG, but I just want it to mess with my head.
FC Mobile codes (September 2026) for Player Cards, Draft Vouchers, and more
FC Mobile codes can give you a helping hand if you're trying to dominate your opponents on the pitch, by dropping a high OVR Player Card into your team or providing other useful items such as Draft Vouchers and Rank Up Points to improve your standings. As with many other mobile games, you can't claim promos directly through the app and need to head to a separate website instead, so here are the latest codes for FC Mobile and how to redeem them.
All FC Mobile codes

The following FC Mobile redemption codes are active for rewards:
- ZLATANWORLDPREMIERE – 117 OVR Zlatan Ibrahimovic Card
FC Mobile codes tend to come and go, but most offer either a highly-rated Player Card to add to your collection, Draft Vouchers so you can make trades, or Rank Up Points to put your team in a better position.
How to redeem FC Mobile codes

To redeem FC Mobile codes, you need to have played the game at least once to link your EA account to it. You can then go to the official FC Mobile code redemption site and log in with your EA account, before using the Redemption Code text box to enter a promo then hitting the green REDEEM button to claim your reward, which will be delivered via your in-game mailbox shortly after.
FC Mobile redemption codes are not case-sensitive, but be careful if you're copy-pasting them in as if you pick up an extra space when you copy, the paste function won't work.

As Sony kills physical games, former PlayStation execs recreate now-infamous PS4 game-sharing tutorial, but whoops, there's no disc now
In June 2013, PlayStation was untouchable, standing on the battered body of Xbox after a breezy round three in the ring. The "Official PlayStation Used Game Instructional Video" twisted the knife during the PS4 generation, with now-former Sony executives Shuhei Yoshida and Adam Boyes spending 21 seconds showing just how easily users could lend game discs to each other. In 2026, Yoshida and Boyes have recreated the now-infamous passing of the disc as Sony moves to end support for physical games in January 2028, and the conversation is very different.
In a September 18 Twitter post, Yoshida shares two photos from the floor of PlayStation's Tokyo Game Show setup. Both see him catching up with "best friend" Boyes, but one has sparked far more conversation online.

With shocked expressions, Yoshida and Boyes look to the camera and hold an imaginary game box – a near-perfect recreation of their part in that PS4 instructional video, but with one important piece missing. Soon, there won't be any PlayStation discs to share at all.
This doesn't read like Yoshida or Boyes intentionally taking a serious shot at PlayStation, but many people online have pounced on the post as a measure of how Sony has changed in the past 13 years.
"Damn, there isn't anything being shared," reads one reply to Yoshida's post.
"It's been all downhill since you have been gone," says another. Yoshida left PlayStation in January 2025 after 31 years at Sony.
"This is how you share games with your friends in 2028," writes a user sharing the post.
The comments on that original 2013 video, many of them posted around two months ago after Sony's disc announcement, tell a similar story. "You've become the villain you mocked," argues the current top YouTube comment. "This is how you own yourself 13 years later," says another top-voted reply.
After the news broke that Sony is moving away from discs, Yoshida speculated that the end of physical games might not be "such a big issue" given how many on-disc games are still dependent on downloads, not to mention the overwhelming volume of digital sales compared to physical.
Preservation group DoesItPlay found that 34% of PS5 games and 50% of Xbox Series X games require a download to fully function.
"Personally, I'm a totally digital consumer," Yoshida said at the time. "I don't want to manage discs or swap discs. I want all my games on my dashboard, and I just select a game and play it. So, I'm completely digital."
